  US Lacrosse Program to Honor Coaching Achievements at 2009 Convention.

At the May 2008 US Lacrosse Women’s Division High School Coaches’ Committee meeting, the Council elected to start a Coaches Recognition Program to recognize high school coaches of girls’ lacrosse who have achieved significant levels of varsity wins in their coaching careers and/or coaches who have reached established milestones in years of service as a varsity head coach. The "Century Club" will recognize coaches who have reached 100 win milestones in their careers. The "Legends Club" will recognize coaches who have been a varsity level coach for 20 or more years.

The US Lacrosse High School Coaches Committee is now collecting information for the publishing of its Century Club and Legends Club. Both lists of coaches will be available on the US Lacrosse web site as well as in the program for the annual US Lacrosse National Convention. All high school coaches who are recognized must be current members of US Lacrosse.

    At the November 9th meeting of girls lacrosse coaches from throughout the State, the new Ohio Schoolgirls Lacrosse Coaches Association was formed.  The formation of the coaches association was necessary because of  the OSLA, the association that governs girls high school lacrosse, made significant changes in their operating procedures.  Administrators, principals and athletic directors, now set the rules and policies that govern girls lacrosse.  Coaches, while they will have input via the new association and their individual athletic directors, will no longer vote on issues of rules and policy.  The Coaches Association (OSLCA) will now focus on coaches issues.  Membership in OSLCA is open to all coaches and assistant coaches whose schools or community club teams are members of OSLA.

The purposes of this association shall be:

a)   to encourage the growth of women's lacrosse in Ohio; 

b)   to encourage sportsmanship and goodwill among member teams; and

c)   to promote the education, professional growth, and opportunities for girls lacrosse coaches in Ohio.

    The OSLCA will also be setting up a new web site.  The new site will serve as an information and communications tool for COACHES.  This page will serve as a temporary information source for Ohio high school girls lacrosse coaches until their new site is operational. (Early 2009)
